ceiA3 organizes the second co-creation workshop of the Spanish Circular Bioeconomy Hub

Last week, researchers from ceiA3 universities, public administration officers and representatives from the private sector and society participated in the second co-creation workshop of the Spanish Circular Bioeconomy at the Rectorate of the University within the framework of the H2020 project BLOOM.

Experts had the opportunity to discuss issues related to the current situation of knowledge of the bioeconomy and its potential, as well as the design of dissemination activities and the most appropriate communication channels to raise awareness about it. The implementation of a participatory methodology called Open Space allowed the development of participant’s creativity and enhanced the debate and exchange of views, which resulted in outcomes consistent with the reality of the bioeconomy in the region of Andalusia.

The Spanish Hub on Circular Bioeconomy—which leads the ceiA3 and focuses on Agriculture and Food with a fourfold approach based on academy, local authority, business and society—is made up of experts from the five universities of ceiA3, the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, as well as the Andalusian Agency of Knowledge, Association for the Rural Development of Andalusia (ARA), Grupo La Caña and the Spanish Association of Biotech companies ASEBIO.

This activity is part of the H2020 project BLOOM (Boosting European Citizens' Knowledge and Awareness of Bioeconomy Research and Innovation), which aims at bringing together partners from across Europe to debate, communicate, and engage the public in the potential of bioeconomy.

H2020 project BLOOM is led by the scientific institute Zentrum für Soziale Innovation GmbH of Austria, together with partners from Spain, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Finland and Sweden. It has a total budget of €2,400,000 and is funded by the European Commission within the European Framework Program for Research and Innovation H2020 and within the Societal Challenge 2 – Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine, Maritime and Inland Water Research and the Bioeconomy in its call for 2017. The project has an expected duration of 36 months.
